Our name is inspired by Cragside House—the historic Victorian-era home of William Armstrong and the first house in the world to be powered by hydroelectricity, located in the town of Northumberland, England. Owner Robert, who was born and raised in England, chose the name as a reflection of his personal connection to this landmark of innovation. We carry that same legacy of forward-thinking into everything we do, delivering reliable, modern electrical solutions with a focus on safety, efficiency, and precision for every home and business we serve.

Robert,
Robert is the owner and founder of Cragside Electric, bringing decades of hands-on technical experience and a strong work ethic shaped by his early years in England, where he was born and raised.
More than 30 years ago, he moved to the United States and began building a career rooted in precision and reliability. Before starting his own business, Robert worked as an aircraft mechanic, specializing in hydraulics and highly sensitive components; an environment where attention to detail and safety were critical. He later applied that same level of discipline and expertise to the electrical trade, founding Cragside Electric over 20 years ago.
Today, Cragside Electric is a family-owned and operated business based in Columbia, focused on delivering high-quality residential electrical services. Robert holds both Journeyman and Master Electrician certifications, along with a contractor’s license, and the company is fully licensed and insured, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and craftsmanship. All work is completed to current safety standards and in full compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Emma,
Meet the “mini boss” of Cragside Electric, playing a key leadership role in overseeing projects and ensuring each job is carried out to a high standard. With over 7 years of electrical experience, she brings strong technical knowledge and practical field expertise to every project she is involved in.
Emma, the daughter of Robert, is a full-time employee who works closely with the team on-site and behind the scenes, focusing on quality control, job progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. Her background in the sales and service industry helped develop strong communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure—skills that now translate directly into her work managing fast-paced job sites and supporting project execution. While on site, she works side by side with the owners to ensure a clear understanding of the end goal and that each project is completed to expectations.
At Cragside Electric, Emma is a key part of the family-owned and operated business based in Columbia, helping uphold the company’s commitment to professionalism, reliability, and high-quality craftsmanship on every job.

Lopez,
Cragside Electric’s apprentice, Lopez, is currently enrolled in an electrical training program, actively building the technical foundation needed to advance in the trade. With a strong commitment to learning and hands-on development, Lopez is gaining practical field experience while continuing formal education in electrical systems and safety standards.
Before entering the electrical field, Lopez served 10 years in the U.S. Army Infantry, where discipline, attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to perform under high-pressure conditions were developed at a high level. Following military service, Lopez spent 2 years in local law enforcement, further strengthening problem-solving skills, situational awareness, and a strong commitment to safety and accountability.
These combined experiences translate directly into the electrical trade, where precision, safety, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential. As an apprentice at Cragside Electric, Lopez applies this background daily while learning residential electrical systems, supporting field work, and developing the skills needed to grow into a skilled electrician.
